Berko got three points from their local derby with bottom club Leverstock Green in torrential rain at Broadwater on Tuesday night. It took them nearly half an hour to break down the new look Green side but when a header came back off the metalwork Connor Calcutt pounced to fire home his 16th goal of the season from close range. Ashley Morrissey ran up the left wing and dispatched a low shot under Dan Buchtopp to double the lead before the interval.
In the second half Berko used their substitututes and one fo them James Towell laid on a tap in for Dale Sears to make it 3-0. Jamie Gavin headed his 6th of the season from a good cross to make it 4-0. Green were reduced to 10 men when Mark Cambell was sent off for a second yellow card.
The scoring was completed when Calcutt robbed a defender on the right wing and squared for Towell to ram home the fifth goal. Witrh all Berko’s rivals also winning it leaves them in 5th spot in the league table.

On Saturday Berko go to Hoddesdon Town and on Tuesday 29th are at home to Hatfield Town. Berko have an incredible 6 games in hand on the league leaders Ampthill Town, but need to win them all to catch the Bedfordshire side up. On Tuesday 29th Berko area back at Broadwater, entertaining Hatfield Town, looking for another three points as they use up a game in hand.
Berko’s reserves are at home to Leighton Town on Saturday ko3pm. The under 18s go to Chesham United on Thursday 31st October.
