ANOTHER UNBEATEN WEEK FOR BERKO’S 3 TEAMS

STOTFOLD 2 BERKHAMSTED 2

Berko made a shaky start on Saturday conceding two early goals to Paul Garrett who was the pick of the home side’s players. The half time roasting and introduction of Lewis Rodrigoe made the second half a different game and the Comrades could have gone on to win the match. Myles Stepehnson pulled a goal back spotting a gap at the keeper’s near post to blast home a goal. Substitute Mitchell Cole, the latest product of the under 18’s hit the equaliser after shooting through a crowded area when Lewis Pritchard headed the ball on. Pritchard himself struck the cross bar and Josh Chamberlain also had a good chance to hit the winner but in the end the Lilywhites had to settle for a point.

Tasker; Bevan(Cole), Chamberlain, Butler(Rodrigoe) Branson, Frederick, Gavin, Sears , Calcutt, Stephenson (Morrissey),Pritchard. Subs. Not used Boad.

Berko’s reserve side had a good 2-1 home win over Newport Pagnell Town on Saturday and remain unbeaten after three games in the Suburban Shield.  They went behind in the first half to a well worked goal but within a minute or two Scott Macpherson tapped in the equaliser after good work up the left flank. In the second half James Towell struck the cross bar and later provided an inch perfect cross for substitute Luke Wartnaby-Lamb to head the winner in the closing stages.

Berko’s under 18s moved within goal difference of Delphian division leaders Hemel Hempstead Town when they thrashed Chesham United 5-0 away on Thursday night. Jordan Aikman led the way with two first half goals and Ashley  Morrissey also netted before the interval. Second half substitutes Radmeya Icrath and Mitchell Cole also scored to complete the rout.

The week ahead

The first team face three games in 7 days. Dan Griggs’ suspension is over so he could be back for the Wednesday 27th trip to Potters Bar Town to play Hadley in the league. More good news is that Frankie Jowle’s ankle has just turned out to be bruised so he could return and Glenn Thompson could be over flu to add to the competition for places. The injury list could then be down to just Bekim Culaj and Nick Ward. Then on Saturday Berko are at home to Tring Athletic in a local derby that could pull in their largest crowd of the season in another Premier division match. On Tuesday 5th March Berko are looking to reach the new club’s first ever cup final when they host Chipperfield Corinthians in the semi final of the St Marys Cup.

On Saturday Berko’s reserves will be looking to stay unbeaten in the Suburban Shield when they go to bottom of the table Leverstock Green.

The Delphian division under 18 title could be decided on Thursday 7th March when Berkhamsted entertain table topping Hemel Hempstead Town ko7:30pm.
