UNBEATEN WEEK FOR BERKO’S THREE TEAMS

AYLESBURY UNITED 1 BERKHAMSTED 1

Injury ravaged Berko got a useful point away against Aylesbury United on Wednesday night, despite missing half a dozen first team regulars. Both goals came just before the half time interval. Stacey Field has been scoring for fun all season and he put the Ducks in front with a clever lob over Carl Tasker. However within a couple of minutes Berko were level again when the recalled Lewis Pritchard scored against one of his old clubs with another chip over the keeper.

In the second half Berko suffered another couple of injuries with Josh Chamberlain and Myles Stephenson having to be replaced after injury. Coach Steve Boad was pressed into service and he almost hit the winner in the closing stages.

It was the first time in 6 weeks that Aylesbury were able to host a home game at Leighton Town and they failed to take advantage of promotion rivals Oxhey Jets and St Margaretsbury drawing the nibght before..

A neat finish from Mitchell Cole, who was released at the right hand side of the penalty area railway end gave Berko an interval lead. However, the visitors equalised early in the second half. Within a minute Cole put Berko back in front but just before the end Town again levelled with a fine shot.

Berko’s under 18s moved within goal difference of Delphian division leaders Hemel Hemsptead Town when the thrashed Chesham United 5-0 on Thursday night. Jordan Aikman led the way with two first half goals and Ashley  Morrissey also netted before the interval. Second half substitutes Radmeya Icrath and Mitchell Cole also scored to complete the rout.
