DERBY DRAW

BERKHAMSTED 2 LEVERSTOCK GREEN 2
Honours were even in this derby match with Berko coasting two goals up, only to find Green working hard and battling back with an injury time equaliser to share the points.
Mick Vipond reshuffled the Berko side after the disappointing defeat to Oxhey recalling four players to the starting line-up in Jamie Gavin, Bekim Culaj. Lewis Pritchard and Myles Stephenson. They got off to a flyer with Ross Miller heading home powerfully from a Josh Chamberlain corner to take the lead whilst some of the crowd were still arriving. Berko’s first half injury jinx struck again when with only a quarter of the game gone Stephenson pulled up and was replaced by Nick Ward. Green thought they had equalised just before half time when Carl Tasker saved a James Dabbs shot and the ball ran loose but Tasker pounced on it again as Ken Orenuga arrived with the ref ruling the ball was under Tasker’s control when he poked it home to earn a booking.
Pritchard always works hard to catch defenders napping and he robbed Tunde Owolabi and slotted a low shot past Tom Coulton to put Berko two up in the second half. A rash challenge from Gavin on Curt Dizon gave Green hope as a penalty was conceded. Tobi Akin converting it successfully to set up an interesting last 20 minutes. Tasker got booked for time wasting as Berko came under pressure. In injury time Akin got alast gasp equaliser that the visitors deserved for their never say die attitude.
Tasker; Gavin, Rodrigoe, Miller , Nott-Macaire Frederick, Jowle, Culaj Stephenson (Ward), Pritchard, (Morrissey) , Chamberlain. Subs. Not used Sedgley& Davies.
Berko’s reserves are at home to Tring Athletic in the Suburban Shield on Saturday and with no first team game Dave Walters should have plenty players to select from. The under 18s resume their league season with trips to Hemel (Thursday 10th ) and Chesham United (Thursday 17th).
