ANOTHER BIG WIN FOR BERKO

HILLINGDON BOROUGH 2 BERKHAMSTED 4

Just like last week Berko rattled in the goals in the second half to take the points against a side from the bottom three as they pushed up to 9th in the league table with games in hand. Jordon Frederick and Danny Power were available again and returned after the defeat at Hoddesdon Town and teenager Yusef Seodi got his first start.

Recent signing from Holmer Green Steve Nott-Macaire was adjudged to have  tripped a forward to concede a penalty that Kyle Matthews converted to give the home side the lead after half an hour. Just before the interval a rare goal from Lewis Rodrigoe levelled the scores as Dale Sears set him up with a dummy from a deep free kick by Ross Miller. Myles Stephenson ran clear but the keeper managed to foil his effort.

Frederick put Berko ahead with a fine individual effort before he bundled the ball home midway through the second half. Lewis Pritchard came on for Seodi as Vipond moved to a more attacking formation and Pritchard soon got free of his marker and rounded the keeper to net. Sears was also on the scoresheet with a header from a corner so Berko were 4-1 up. However, near the end Matthews got his second goal to make the final score 4-2 after the defence failed to clear their lines.

Tasker;   Rodrigoe, Miller, Nott-Macaire,Power,  Sears (Sedgley), Frederick (Preston) , Culaj, Seodi (Pritchard ), Stephenson,Chamberlain. Subs. Not used Bunker and Thompson.

Berko’s reserve side drew 1-1 at home to Leverstock Green in their final league game of the year to take their unbeaten run to 5 games. Substitute Luke Wartnaby-Lamb finally broke the deadlock against his old side by tapping in a right wing cross from Scot McPherson. However, when possession was lost in midfield Green broke away to level through James Bunday.

On Saturday Berko are at home to high riding London Colney in a Premier division game. Dan Griggs is still suspended but otherwise Berko could be at full strength if nagging  injuries to Lawrence Bunker, Jamie Gavin and Frankie Jowle clear up.

Weather permitting Berko’s under 18 side have two Delphian division league games left at Chesham United on Thursday 13th and at home to All Stars Academy on the 20th of December.
