Four times Hadley came from behind on Sunday in the FA Vase to force a replay at Broadwater on Tuesday evening in an action packed match. Berko finished with 9 men after Jordon Frederick and Dan Griggs were both sent off for second bookable offences but the 9 men held out for a draw.

Connor Calcutt had a shot saved and then his follow up ballooned up in a tackle and came down in the net to open the scoring. Ben Luck took a free kick which Carl Tasker tipped on to the bar as Hadley tried to hit back. Tasker got a boot to  cross but Hadley’s Hakim Medfai got to the loose ball on the far side of the box and took his chance well with a fine shot.

Lewis Pritchard just got enough power on a shot to beat home keeper Russell Garland with a shot placed just inside the far post to put Berko back in front. It proved a short lived lead as within a minute Nick Chrysanthou hit  a wonderful shot from the edge of the area to draw Hadley level. The first half action was not over as Dang Griggs put Berko 3-2 up just before the half time interval.

Mark Campbell  came forward and equalised early in the second half when he was found with a free kick. In the 65th minute Griggs was pushed over in the penalty box. Calcutt stepped up to send Garland the wrong way form the penalty spot as for the fourth time Berko went in front. Within two minutes it was 4-4 when an attempted clearance rebounded off Ben Luck and in to the net.

There were chances at both ends in the first half of extra time. Calcutt latched on to a long bouncing ball from a Josh Chamberlain pass but lobbed over. Each bar got struck. However, the yellow card count was getting ludicrous with neither team playing dirty football. It reached about five a side before Frederick and Griggs got second yellows and were sent off. Strangely with Hadley being a good passing side they were not able to make the two man advantage pay, so the sides replay at Broadwater on Tuesday 16th.

Berko Tasker; Power,  Rodrigoe. Culaj, Gavin (Cook), Frederick, Pritchard, Griggs, Calcutt, Sedgley, Chamberlain. Subs. not used Boad, Sears, Preston  and Osborne.

Berko’s reserve side were knocked out of the Suburban League Cup 3-2 at home to Premier division Uxbridge. Ashley Morrisey grabbed both the goals for the Comrades.

In midweek Berko’s under 18’s built a handy 7-2 lead in the 1st leg of their Brian Hitchings Cup tie with AFC Dunstable. Kai Lewis came off the bench to net two goals and the others came from George Macausland, Jordan Aikman, Kieran Turner, Mitchell Cole and Connor Toomey.
