Berko came out on top in the local derby on Tuesday night to push a couple of places up the league table. The first half might have been goalless although the metalwork was struck by both Dan Griggs and Connor Calcutt for Berko. Calcutt hit the post and Griggs hit the cross bar. However in the 37th minute, an own goal eventually put the Comrades ahead with Robbie Duncan sliding in for the ball and netting off his own cross bar when intercepting a Calcutt cross.

Lawrence Bunker had his hand trod on and came off to be replaced by Josh Chamberlain. The youngster soon stepped up to beat the Tring defensive wall with a free kick to double the lead after a defender handled. He was then brought down after taking a cross from Calcutt and tucked the penalty away to make it 3-0 to Berko. Graham Hall got a late consolation goal for Tring with a super strike.

Berko: Tasker, Power, Rodrigoe, Culaj, Sears, Frederick, Jowle, Griggs, Calcutt, Bunker(Chamberlain), Pritchard(Dimitrov). Subs. Not used Gavin, Creasy, & Boad.

Berko’s under 18 side progressed in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night when there was a second half deluge of goals. Strangley there were none in the first half although the post was struck twice by Berko before the interval. Harry Sedgley has spent a lot of time on the first team bench in the last month and needed some playing time. He made the breakthrough with a composed finish after 50 minutes.

Connor Toomey and Ashley Morrisey, who finished off a fine move sweeping home a cross from substitute  Mitchell Cole helped the Comrades move from drawing 0-0 to be three goals ahead in a 6 minute blitz early in the second half. Joe Sweeney swapped the side around and Toomey made it 4-0. Connor Toomey then went on to net a hat trick as Berko ran riot. The visitors came back into it but blasted a penalty over the bar and Connor McQuillam pulled a goal back. Right at the end Town pulled it back to 5-2.

Berko will be away to Cheshunt or St Albans City in the next round.
