On Saturday Berko face the biggest match since they were formed four years ago, when they entertain Metropolitan Police in the FA Cup with Budweiser at Broadwater. Contrary to popular rumour hardly any of the team are serving police officers. The Police will start as favourites as they are from the Ryman Premier division, which is two divisions up from Berkhamsted. Their squad looks formidable and includes a couple of Guyana internationals in Chris Bourne and Howard Newton, Joe Dolan who is a Northern Ireland under 21 player who used to play for Millwall and Orient, Jay Lovett who played for Brentford and centre forward Jonte Smith is on loan from Crawley Town.

However Micky Vipond’s young side have only lost once in their 13 outings this season and will want to give a good account of themselves. They have already won three games in the FA Cup this season including the 4-3 giantkilling at Uxbridge and will be looking to cause another upset. The match should draw a good crowd to Broadwater as it is the only FA Cup tie for miles around with the other local sides like Chesham, Hemel, Tring and Leverstock Green all knocked out already. If a replay is needed it will be at Imber Court on Wednesday night. If there is no replay Berko have a home league match with Stotfold on Tuesday 25th.

The FA have been conducting pre-match interviews-see their preview on the FA Cup pages at to find out what Mick Vipond and Keith Hardy have to say. There is apparently more to come from skipper Dale Sears.
