Berko gave a good account of themselves in this friendly on Tuesday night against a full strength United side that are two divisions above them. The home side took the lead in just the second minute when teenage striker Connor Calcutt struck the bar with a header and then netted the rebound. Chesham levelled matters after only 10 minutes when a rash challenge from Steve Ashby conceded a penalty, which ex Broadwater favourite Michael Chennells converted.

Home keeper Carl Tasker was in inspired form and kept the scores level in the first half with a series of fine saves, with the ones from Bruce Wilson and ex Fulham striker Barry Hayles being the pick of the bunch.

United got their noses in front from a close range header by Hayles. Calcutt thought he had levelled the scores but his  from close rangeeffort was disallowed for an offside flag. There was a flurry of substitutions including the welcome comeback after injury of Aaron Usmani for Berko. Chesham finally made sure of the win two minutes from time when Hayles struck again.

The young Comrades side can be pleased with their teamwork and passing against a Chesham side that nearly won promotion last season.

On Saturday Berko are at home to Ware in their final home friendly k.o.3pm
