BERKHAMSTED 1 v 1 HANWELL TOWN

Berkhamsted drew the biggest crowd in the Molten Spartan League on Saturday, but disappointed their fans by only drawing with bottom of the table Hanwell Town.

Having recently changed their management the visitors have brought in some new players in their bid to avoid relegation and they provided dogged opposition. With few chances created at either end the first half was goalless, but Berko lived to rue the penalty miss that saw Hanwell custodian Kieran Jimmy make a fine double save.

Hanwell looked better than their league position and took the lead early in the second half through Nathan Munroe. The ball broke for him outside the penalty area and his shot went through a crowd of players with goalkeeper Ed Farmer unsighted.

Berko upped their game with Frankie Jowle going close after being set up by Aaron Usmani. Kerkstun Macpherson came on for Usmani and within minutes levelled the scores with a free kick.

The visitors were not happy when they were adjudged to have fouled skipper Dale Sears just to the left of the penalty area. They failed to erect a wall and were expecting a high cross when Macpherson hit it low and the ball sped into the net.

As Berko pressed for the winner, young Josh Chamberlain came on and twice drifted shots past the far post after creating his own chances with good dribbling skills.

Berko were unable to break down Hanwells well organised defence and a draw was probably a fair result.

Berko: Farmer, Power, Rodrigoe, J.Carmichael, S. Carmichael, Welling ,Wardle(Chamberlain),  Hawes, Usmani, (Macpherson), Sears, Jowle,(Davies) Subs not  used: Smith. Gavin.

Mick hopes to have Tyler Hatherly back after a family bereavement for a run of three local derbies away from home.

On Wednesday 7th they are at 3rd in the table AFC Dunstable, and on Saturday go to Leverstock Green followed by a trip to Leighton to play Aylesbury United on Wednesday 14th.

Mick  has added to his forward options by signing Courtney Francis who was with the club some of last season and is now over his injury problems.
