Comrades U18s v AFC Dunstable

Berko’s Youth Team lost their first league match of the new campaign 4-3 at home to AFC Dunstable this evening.

Prior to the game, the boys paraded their new kit, kindly sponsored by Fairway Tyre and Auto Services of Watford, and the Club would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone at Fairway for their support of the Comrades Under 18s team.

The night started well for the Comrades as clever work from Ryan Pereira enabled the youngster to get in a fine low cross which Connor Toomey converted. The lead was to last only three minutes as OD’s centre-half Fasida Bayonle glanced in a free-kick.

The rest of the first half proved to be very tight until five minutes before the break, Toomey again unlocked the visitors’ defence, Courtney Hart setting up the chance, to give Berko a 2-1 lead at the break.

AFC Dunstable came out in determined mood for the second period, and levelled early on through a neat lob from Connor Smith, and another long ball undid Berko again three minutes later when Michael Sinclair slotted home.

Smith added a fourth for the visitors, but the Comrades had the final word when George McCausland clipped in a lovely free-kick and only last ditch defending kept a last minute chance out and leave Berko lose out by the odd goal.
