Berko Back to Winning Ways

Berko got back to winning ways on Tuesday night with a convincing friendly win over the only team to have taken three points off  them at Broadwater. Matt Wardle hit the post in an early Berko attack but somehow nobody was able to net from the rebound. The visitors took the lead with a spectacular headed own goal from Simon Carmichael. The centre-half soon made amends by bundling the ball home from a Jordan Toomey corner to equalise.

Tony Burnett came on at half time and helped himself to a second half hat trick. His first was when he placed the ball past Jordan Clarke, the second when he headed over the advancing keeper and his third a fine shot bent into the top corner after a Mark Welling shot was half cleared.

Adam Balletta was pulled down to earn a penalty which was converted by Josh Chamberlain who sent keeper Clarke the wrong way from the penalty spot to make it 5-1 to the Comrades who looked much sharper in this their second friendly.

Comrades: Farmer, Toomey, Rodrigoe, Carmichael J, Carmichael S, Sears, Wardle, Hawes, Usmani, Wright, Burgess. Subs: Hester, Chamberlain, Burnett, Balletta, Gavin, Keast.
