Comrades Update

It promises to be a blustery afternoon at Broadwater where the Comrades entertain London Colney.

Kick-off is at 1500, and the team news will follow…..

1456: We’re off and an early let off for Berko as Colney’s David Townsend puts in a dangerous cross which Ricky Perks should have converted.

1503: A great chance for Berko as they camp on the edge of the Colney box, Matty Wardle seeing drive deflected wide.

1510: The Comrades are kicking into a strong diagonal wind, and Steve Hawes does well to keep a powerful shot down, but wide.

1514: A great ball from Steve Hawes puts Anthony Page in space on the right hand side of the area, and his cut back is nicked off the head of James Armstrong.

1522: London Colney’s number nine Ricky Perks is cautioned for dissent.

1525: The Comrades grab the opening goal and what a cracker! Mark Welling was in space on the left flank, heard the shout from Danny Power making a great run from right-back. Welling fires over a pinpoint ball which Power heads home.

1528: Colney’s left back Dan McCafferty is cautioned for a late challenge on Power.

1536: With Colney in a great position, Ricky Perks makes a late challenge on Simon Carmichael in the six-yard box and the referee draws out his red card.

1538: And Trevor Stevens joins his team-mates in the referees book as he gets a yellow card.

Half-time: 1-0

1557: The second half is underway with the Comrades having the wind at their backs.

1605: Another visitor sees yellow as centre-half Giles Shaw is cautioned.

1607: And it’s 2-0 for Berko as Matty Wardle converts from close-range. 2-0

1608: Another Colney player talks himself into the book.

1615: A change for Colney as Sam Mitchell replaces Trevor Stevens.

1616: Goalscorer Power is cautioned for protesting too strongly following the award of a free-kick.

1618: Matty Wardle goes close with a fine curled effort which comes back off the post.

1624: And it’s 3-0 as Wardle clips home. The chance came following the award of the free-kick as the keeper handled outside the box, and Mark Welling played the half-cleared ball back in.

1629: Adam Mead replaces Mark Welling for Berko, and Nesan Jeyaratnam for Sam Wilkinson for Colney.

1633: More drama as Colney are awarded a penalty as Danny Power handles on the post, but Eddie Farmer saves Sam Mitchell’s effort.

1634: And Matty Wardle is booked.

1637: A great run from Chris Colman allows Adam Mead a shot, and the youngster then has a great chance when Armstrong and Mead combine well but he blasts over.

1639: Lee Groves replaces James Armstrong for the Comrades.

Full-time: 3-0
