Leighton Reserves edge out Comrades

Berko Reserves lost 2-3 to Leighton Town last night.

The Comrades played very well in the first half, and took lead from two Aaron Ewing corners, the first scored by Seb Smith who blasted home after Pete McPherson’s header came back of the bar, and McPherson scored himself from the second.

Unfortunately a minute before half time. Danny Curbelo slipped on the edge of his box as he went to clear and Leighton scored from the resulting possession.

Leighton scored again after the break and the usually reliable Curbelo then let a fierce shot slip through his hands to give the visitors the lead.

The Comrades tried very hard to recover and the excellent Chris Colman carved out two good opportunities but shot wide.

To complete a disappointing night, Aaron Ewing then picked up a straight Red for a dangerous tackle late on.
