Reserves Bow Out of Cup but Build for the Future

Tuesday night saw the Reserves bow out of the Herts Intermediate Cup with a 5-2 home defeat to Hadley’s second team.

Berko were five down, but fought back thanks to goals from Tom Merritt and Chris Gregory.

Eddie Gerrard continued his rehabilitation from injury and played well after coming on for last twenty minutes.

There was much better news with the appointment of Rob Patwell as Paul’s Assistant/Coach. Robbie has had a long playing career, most recently at Tokyngton Manor and Amersham Town and only recently moved into Management after accepting the post at Welwyn Garden City.

Rob has many contacts and Paul hopes to add some new names on our team sheet in the coming weeks.

Indeed, Paul has already been busy strengthening the side, adding the following signings:

Chris Colman – forward, who looks to have good potential. Was cup tied for last nights game.

Ashley Pizan – utility player. played for St Albans City as a youth and for Paul at Harpenden Town, Welwyn Garden City and Codicote. Recovering from a 6 week injury lay off.

Musty Faud – left sided midfield/forward. Cup tied for last nights game. Played for Paul at Harpenden Town, Welwyn Garden City and Codicote.

Paul has identified his goal at this really busy time for the club as getting as many new players in to enable us the reserves support the Senior’s Championship push and to make sure we can develop the very good crop of young guns in Danny’s youth team and ensure that they do not get overplayed.

One bit of bad news is that the impressive Chris Mason has sustained a torn thigh muscle and will be out for 3-6 weeks.
