Comrades Update

With the first team without a game, the focus is on the reserve team, who entertain North Greenford United.

The club are still inviting applications for the reserve team managers position.

1. Danny Noble 2. Jamie Gavin 3. Stuart Bailey 4. Tom Merritt 5. Anthony Beamish 6. Mark Welling 7. Chris Mason 8. Colin Wilson 9. Chris Gregory 10. Adam Mead 11. Kevin Lowe
Subs: 12. Ross Adams 14. Josh Chamberlain 15. Steve Boad 16. Tony Burnett 17. Aaron Usmani

1506: Both teams have settled well.

1515: No real chances to date, and the sides look pretty evenly matched.

1526: First real effort as NGU’s number 11 fires an excellent effort onto the bar from outside the box, Bailey heading the rebound safely behind.

1544: Hesitancy in the Berko defence allows the visitors’ Reece Choudry to nip in and score. 0-1

1545: Berko try respond, Chris Mason having a pop from distance.

Half-time: 0-1

1605: Berko switch Tony Burnett for Adam Mead.

1616: Josh Chamberlain replaces the injured Tom Merritt, who has an ankle problem.

1618: The change brings a quick reward as Chamberlain calmly places a header in at the far post from a Jamie Gavin cross.

1621: It’s almost two for Berko as Mark Welling drills the ball across the six-yard box to Anthony Beamish, who attempted a cheeky back-heel which is deflected wide.

1622: From the corner, Beamo makes sure this time with a trademark header. 2-1

1625: Danny Noble has saved the Comrades a couple of times with neat saves, but he cannot stop NGU’s Eddie Gee levelling with an accomplished finish. 2-2

1630: Steve Boad comes on for the hard-working Mark Welling.

1631: Stratty’s change comes up trumps again as Steve Boad heads in at the back post. 3-2

1636: Great run and shot from Jamie Gavin.

Full-time: 3-2

A good win for a Comrades line-up featuring a mixture of youth and experience against a young and talented North Greenford United side.
