A few minutes to kick-off and the sun is trying to break through at

1503 and we’re off, Berko attacking the clubhouse end in their change kit of white and black shirts and black shorts.

1506 – First chance for the Comrades, a deep free-kick falls to Tony Burnett but his volley goes wide.

1509 – Another decent chance created from hard work by Burnett, his persistence ending with a cross across goal that just evaded Berko’s strikers.

1513 – It’s 1-0 to the Comrades as Armstrong strokes the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the box. 1-0

1518 – A nervous few minutes for Berko as Lawrence Bunker looks to run off a knock on the leg.

1520 – First chance of a sort for Ampthill as a speculative volley clears the bar.

1526 – Steve Hawes is running the show in midfield, and fires in a great effort after winning the ball in the centre circle.

1531 – Another half-chance for the home side, but Berko are still on top.

1540 – It’s Armstrong again as he cuts inside by the touchline, drives into the box and fires in, albeit with a deflection.

1549 – It’s half-time with the Comrades two goals to the good, but there was a late scare as the ball ran loose in the area.

Half-time – 2-0

1620 – It’s all been happening since the restart. Within twelve minutes, Ampthill had turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead, Dave Murphy heading in from a corner, Danny Pilgrim hitting home a great volley and Shaun Cooksley cool finish. 2-3

1621 – From despair to delight as Burnett levels with a fine header. 3-3

1626 – It’s the Burnett show now as he puts Berko back in front with a precise chip. 4-3

1629 – The Comrades make two changes, Paolo Aquila for Colin Wilson and Steve Gavin for Jim Carmichael.

1631 – Major let off for Berko as Murphy heads wide. It’s wide open and Micky is getting hoarse!

1643 – A defensive mix-up in the Berko defence and it’s four apiece, Stuart Reynolds firing into the top corner. 4-4

It’s all over on an wholly entertaining 4-4 draw, Ampthill deserving their point with a great second half display. Still unbeaten for the Comrades so it’s chins up.
