Apologies for the delay, technical problems I’m afraid

COMRADES

Subs : 12 Sam Leader, 14 Peter Saville, 15 Daniel Burke, 16 Robbie Freeman, 17 Scott Brunton

Coming up to half-time and it’s 2-1.

Tony Burdett put the Comrades ahead from the spot following a push, but the visitors levelled shortly afterwards through a Colin Wilson own goal. Wilson’s frustration saw him booked following a firm challenge.

44 – Aaron Usmani sees his first shot well saved by Walker, but recovers to drill home his first goal for the Comrades. 2-1

HT : 2-1

1602 and we’re off again, Berko going close as Burdett and Armstrong combined well.

1605 : Berko have another penalty for a push, no-one appealed and Wodson are unhappy but Burdett put it away for 3-1.

1614 : Just short of the hour-mark and it’s 4-1 to the Comrades! Tony Burdett completes his hat-trick with a fine finish from a tight angle.

1616 : Let off for Berko as Steve Horsey heads over when unmarked.

1619 : Sam Leader replaces Collins for Wodson Park.

1622 : A great far post cross from Jamie Gavin finds Burdett, whose header is well saved. A moment of controversy when the ball hits a grounded Usmani, and the flag is raised. Perhaps FIFA could clear up whether you are active when stationary on the floor!

1625 : Mead had a long-range dig which just beats the crossbar.

1629 : Scramble on the Wodson goal-line, and now the visitors make a second change, Daniel Burke for Friend.

1632 : Fifteen minutes to go and Mead fires a low shot wide, but Wodson show they’re not out of it with a great counter.

1634 : It’s five now as Jimmy Armstrong hammers home at the far post, and Paolo Aquila replaces hat-trick hero Tony Burdett for his first competitive game for the Comrades.

1639 : Make that seven as defender Louis Rose heads an Adam Mead corner past his keeper, and immediately, Berko go straight back down the ground and Usmani slides in for his second goal.

1641 : The goals continue as Wodson net through Horsey to make it 7-2, followed by a double substitution from Berko, Luke Bartlett and honeymooner Lee Groves replace Wilson and Gavin.

1645 : The final minutes will take place in torrential rain, as Armstrong pokes wide on the slippy surface.

1647 : We’re in added-time.

1653 : FULL-TIME – A late Armstrong header went just over, and the same player was adjudged offside after a well-timed run before the final whistle went on a 7-2 victory.

With goals for all three strikers, a superb start for the Comrades in Division One.
