Stotfold v Comrades
Molten Spartan South Midlands Premier
STOTFOLD 2 v 2 BERKHAMSTED
Berko twice came from behind to take a point with a much improved performance at Stotfold on Saturday.
With Leon Skinner injured, it was back to last season’s back four with the Carmichael brothers reunited at centre back and Danny Power making his debut in defence after returning from Beaconsfield SYCOB.
The rearranged side did well in the first half with the defence looking safe and many chances were created up front. However, it was Stotfold who took the lead in tHe 26th minute through Sean Herr who got through on the right wing and beat Ed Farmer with a low shot. It was to prove short lived as Matt Wardle equalised with a superb finish four minutes later.
Berko had to rearrange their side with Power and Dale Sears coming off injured. They got caught offside a few times and suffered the disappointment of conceding a second goal late in the game to Herr again, who netted despite a host of defenders being in the penalty area.
However, the battling spirit shone through and substitute Kerkstun MacPherson set up Wardle, who netted his second of the game in injury time with a shot under the advancing keeper to take his goal tally for the season into double figures and take a well earned point.
On Saturday Berko have their first home Premier division game since January when they entertain bottom of the table Hanwell Town at Broadwater k.o. 3pm.
Josh Chamberlain’s suspension is over and Mick Vipond may have his full squad available if Leon Skinner and the players injured on Saturday recover from their knocks. It is a busy March for the Comrades with two games a week throughout. On Wednesday 7th Berko play second in the table AFC Dunstable away at Creasey Park.
Berko: Farmer, Power,(Davies) , Rodrigoe, J.Carmichael, S. Carmichael, Smith, Wardle, Hawes, Usmani, Hatherly (Macpherson), Sears(Welling), Subs not used: Jowle. Dimitrov.
The Reserves continued their good recent run, making it three wins on the bounce as they came from 1-2 down to secure a fine 3-2 victory over neighbours Tring Athletic. Report on Reserves page.
Thurs 23rd Feb
The Youth team drew 1-1 at home to Hemel Hempstead Town last night with Jordan Aikman scoring the equaliser for Berko. Both Chris Chance and Hemel hit the post as both sides went for the winner.
Please note their next game at Chesham United is now on Thursday 1st March k.o.7:45pm (change of date).
Hadley v Comrades
Molten Spartan South Midlands Premier
HADLEY 2 v 1 BERKHAMSTED
With the big thaw underway over the last week, the Comrades returned to action after a two week break.
Manager Mick Vipond was able to recall Tyler Hatherly after suspension and Dale Sears got a first game since breaking his ankle in the FA Vase last September.
Nick Chrysanthou put the home side ahead in the 14th minute but their lead did not last long as Berko equalised within 5 minutes as Matt Wardle finished off a fine move to net his 9th goal of the campaign, in front of the lowest crowd Berko have seen this season.
Midway through the second half Dom Petrucci ran on to a through ball and rounded Ed Farmer to win the game, for a Hadley side that performed well in the second half.
Mick Vipond brought on three substitutes, but they were not able to come back a second time. We picked up four bookings, as the home side kept us under pressure until the final whistle.
Berko: Farmer, Teasdale, Rodrigoe, J.Carmichael, Skinner, Sears(Rose), Macpherson, (Smith), Hawes, Usmani,(Davies) , Wardle, Hatherly. Subs not used: Welling. Gavin.
The Reserves were also in action and completed a 3-0 home win over Ash Utd and move up two places in their League to joint seventh. Report on Reserves page.

Power returns
